Come realizzare una bambolina di Brighid / Diy a Brighid doll

Febbraio ci fa dono della luce che comincia a crescere e i nostri altari illuminati da tante candele ne sono la testimonianza più bella. Protagonista di questo periodo è la Dea celtica Brighid!

La luce, l’ispirazione, la guarigione, le capacità artistiche sono tra i doni che Lei porta a chi la onora; a Lei era sacra la ruota del filatoio, un simbolo potente che ci ricorda la Dea che tesse la trama e intreccia i fili della nostra vita. Ispirato da questo strumento a Lei legato ho voluto realizzare una bambolina in suo onore utilizzando come materiale proprio la lana.
Nella cultura celtica è usanza tradizionale onorare la Dea Brighid fabbricando delle bambole con le spighe dell’ultimo covone mietuto o con le foglie delle pannocchie di mais. Se voi le avete conservate potete utilizzarle altrimenti optate per la lana.
La bambolina veniva vestita in abiti bianchi e deposta in una cesta, chiamata “Letto di Brid” con accanto un bastone di forma allungata che ricordava il fallo. Candele venivano offerte vicino al letto di Brid e Le si dava il benvenuto nella propria casa.

Materiale occorrente per realizzare la bambolina:

Gomitolo di lana bianco e rosso
Forbici
Pistola per colla a caldo
Colla a caldo

Procedimento

Sul palmo della mano ben aperto o su cartoncino fate più giri di lana bianca.
Raggiunta una discreta quantità di lana staccate la matassa e annodate una estremità in un punto, questa sarà la testa della vostra bambola.
Ripetete lo stesso procedimento per realizzare le braccia, questa volta però dovrete annodare con del filo le due estremità opposte per creare le mani della bambolina. Aprite con le forbici le estremità che formano le mani e livellate i fili di lana alla stessa lunghezza.
Inserite questa seconda matassa all’interno della prima posizionandola sotto la testa ben centrata.
Con un altro filo bloccate alla vita questa seconda matassa.
Con le forbici aprite le estremità in basso della gonna e livellate alla stessa lunghezza i fili della lana.

Per i capelli create due matassine con la lana di colore rosso.
Chiudetene una al centro annodando un filo ma avendo cura di non stringere troppo, deve rimanere un po’ lento, questa matassa andrà poi fissata sul capo con la colla a caldo sopra la seconda.

La seconda matassa invece andrà annodata ad una sola delle estremità livellando i fili. Questa parte fungerà da frangia per la bambolina.
Entrambe queste due matasse rosse andranno aperte alle estremità con le forbici.

Incollate prima sulla testa la matassa fissata ad una sola estremità e poi sopra questa l’altra matassa rossa che era stata fissata nella parte centrale. Livellate infine i fili rossi con le forbici.

Per creare una gonna più ampia create un’altra matassa di lana bianca con il stesso procedimento iniziale e poi incollate questa nella parte sottostante il girovita livellando i fili con le forbici.

Adesso la Bambola di Brighid è pronta!

Inspired by this tool connected to her, I wanted to make a doll in her honor using wool.
In Celtic culture is traditional custom to honour the Goddess Brighid manufacturing the dolls with the ears of the last sheaf harvested or the leaves of corn cobs. If you have them stored you can use them otherwise opt for wool.
The doll was dressed in white clothes and laid in a basket called “Brid bed” with beside an elongated rod that remembered the phall is. Candles were offered close to Brid’s bed and she wad welcomed in the homes.

Necessities to make the doll:

Ball of white and red wool
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Hot glue

Method

On the palm of wide open hand or on paper do more laps of white wool.
Achieved a fair amount of wool, detach the bundle and tie one end of the wire to a point, this will be the head of your doll.
Repeat the same process for making the arms, but this time you will have to tie the two opposite ends of the wire to create the hands of the doll. Open with scissors the ends so you will form the hands and leveled the wool threads to the same length.

Use scissors to open the bottom end of the skirt and leveled the threads of wool at the same length.

For hair make two skeins of red wool.

The second coil instead will knotted only in one of the ends leveling the wires. This part will serve as a fringe to the doll.
Both of these two red skeins will open at the ends with scissors.

First glued on head the skein fixed at one end and then the other one. Finally level the red wires with scissors.

To create a wider skirt, make another skein of white wool with the same initial procedure and then glue this in the part below the waist, then level the threads with scissors.
